The Grinch

I was a Grinch

Living lonesome

A mountaintop my home

Separating myself

From society

From reality

Disguising myself

To converse

To conform

Your mother

Was the only Cindy Lou

Who was

Allowed

Accepted

Relentless in her pursuit

To be trusted

To be so close

To the mouth of a villain

Loving me regardless

As much as I

Pretended otherwise

She was more

Than my shrivelled heart

Could handle

She gave me strength

Courage and comfort

Readied me

Back to existence

And then came you

And

Well

My small heart grew three sizes that day.
