Cocooned

I wake up

I peer into your bassinet

There you are

All swaddled up

Bug eyed

Our gaze locks

You smile and kick

Like a caterpillar

Who just can't wait

To spread its wings

Flirt with the sky

Brandish its beauty

You've melted my heart

Killed me with kindness

A silent and dreamy gift

Just for me

And the sad thing is

Ten seconds in

I know with surety

My day isn't going

To get any better
