I'm sure most of us first time Dads remember the first time we introduce bubbles to our little one. The anticipation we feel, knowing that this little munchkin is about to have their time little brain absolutely fucking blown by something as simple as washing up liquid and water.
This poem is about that feeling I got, blowing bubbles right into my child's face.
Bubbles
Oh how I wish to be
One of those delicate globes
Bouncing and skipping
Refracting as I go
Carrying the rainbow
Towards those bewildered
Awe-struck planets
Towards that fly-catching
Toothless smile
Though my life would be short
It would be glorious
To be born in front of your
Attentive and curious glow
And bid farewell
Below your squinting
Upturned eyes
Above your hollow grin
On that innocent love charm
Before I gently pop
On your little button nose
I can reflect joyfully
On my delicate journey
Knowing
That you
My euphoric girl
From start to finish
Were my entire life
